An update to the story linked to below, and it's good news. I received an email this morning from chef Gerard Pangaud saying that he will now be cooking at Malmaison three days of the week - Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Pangaud fans, who remember his award-winning Gerard's Place on McPherson Square, will no doubt flock to Malmaison. Anyone else who loves French cooking will want to race there to discover the thrills of what its like in the hands of a master. We have a lot of talented chefs but we don't have anyone with his kind of training and talent cooking in Washington at the moment. He says this is a step toward retirement, so go now, go often ... and let's hope he puts his Lobster Sauterne, Lamb Stew, Roquefort Mousse, and duck breast on the menu.
Give him till next week to get the kitchen "organized."
