FARMERS MARKET TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY
This is such good news for the village: the Georgetown University Farmers' Market launches tomorrow with a pilot program they hope to make a fixture in the fall. Don't miss it. Obviously, the more support it has the more a future is guaranteed. As the sign says, it will take place in Healy Circle from 2-6 pm. This will be a third (that I know of) Wednesday Farmers Market in the area, joining Rose Park and Foggy Bottom.
The GU market has a website here. According to the site, these are some of the vendors:
From the Farm (Flowers, Plants, and Produce)
Beechwood Orchards – Honey Crisp Applesauce, Canned Peaches, Apple Butter, Peach Butter, Asparagus, Apples
Wollam Gardens – Freshly Cut Flowers
Baked Goodness
Les Caprices de Joelle - Belgian Waffles, Crepes
Panorama Bakery – Baguettes, Croissants, Scones, Muffins, Danishes, Loaves of Bread
Drink Organic
TeaCo LLC – Organic Loose-Leaf Teas, Honey
Odds n’ Ends
Salsa Las Glorias – Salsa made from locally grown vegetables
Sweet Nut House – Praline Glazed Pecans, Cinnamon Almond Crunch, Sweet & Spicy Almonds — All made from scratch!
ENCOURAGE MORE FARMERS TO JOIN! They are looking for "Farm-fresh, USDA-approved, sustainably-grown fruits, vegetables, and milk/ dairy products, as well as flowers, coffee, honey, and other value-added products such as pies, kettle corn, and jams/jellies." Fresh eggs would be nice, too. The only way to go.
