There are many positives about Georgetown, and one of those virtues is that the village is an outpost for some interesting and unique enterprises. One of those is Alchimie Forever, a Swiss oasis for people who care a lot about their skin. I grew up in a half-Romanian household, where my grandmother Theresa constantly reminded me: "skin first." To her the skin was a measure of overall well-being, inside and out. She would have loved Alchimie.
I snuck away to lower Wisconsin Avenue yesterday morning for my indulgence. Since I like to share these things with my neighbors, I asked owner Ada Polla if she had any seasonal specials that might entice the locals. She followed up with this email:
Starting today, we are doing a GWP of our Diode 1 + 2 age defying serums (http://www.alchimie-forever.com/lang-en/facial-skin-care/21-age-defying-serums.html) with any 2 products purchased in the showroom. This will last until June 30.
Also, we are doing complimentary facials again on July 21 (complimentary 60 minute facial with $150 product purchase) – perhaps you could also mention that? To book people can email me directly.
If you've never been, this is a great way to give Alchimie a try. It's a completely relaxing and indulgent hour, the products are practically aromatherapy (say YES to the Blueberry mask), and your face will show its appreciation for days. I don't do Botox, lasers, chemical peels or other skin extremes, but it seems to me a regular facial produces the same results (that and sleep and good health). While Alchimie is related to a cosmetic laser institute in Geneva, it's possible to visit Alchimie Forever in Georgetown and have a good result without anything landing on your face but creams and serums.
Again, we're fortunate in Georgetown to have these little nooks for the indulgent getaway. Which is why I also recommend facials by Lance Etchison at Blue Mercury. I used to get facials at Erwin-Gomez Salon, also, but they are gone, gone, gone. Georgetown's loss.
