M STREET IN GEORGETOWN AT 7 AM SUNDAY, AS IRENE LEFT TOWN
Washington was lucky. The earthquake that began the week, while scary, was not horrible. Hurricane Irene, ending the week, while a threat, did not cause widespread damage. ON New York Social Diary today I wrap-up my experiences with pictures. Read it here.
Several inches of rain fell in a short time. My curiosity now is whether the run-off from up north will cause Potomac flooding downstream in Georgetown and Alexandria?
Hmmm..Good morning.
Yes, but we have to keep in mind just how lucky some local areas were during the time of this storm. Some of us dodged a nasty bullet, while some had Irene tear them a new "Six."
We count our blessings to enjoy another day and not have to wait for the water to recede or to prepare a burial for a family member or friend. After all, 20 have perished in this storm.
Personally, I'll give it all some very deserved contemplation, stay ever prepared and keep my eyes on a fun holiday weekend ahead!
To That Universal Entity; Thanks!

P.S. To you Carol, thanks for the colorful blogging!
