WHAT USED TO BE GRIFFIN MARKET HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED INTO A BOUCHERIE
Attention Georgetown. Get your appetites up. Stachowski Charcuterie has opened in the location of the old Griffin Market. You'll want to get over there soon for the club and a variety of other good sandwiches. These are hearty, handmade feasts between slices of bread or on hoagie rolls. Also, as you can see in the photo above, a handsome space. The store is the creation of Jamie Stachowski.
Also note: the Rose Park Farmers Market opens tomorrow, Wednesday, May 2. Good food news all round.
My first item at Stachowski's was the club sandwich. It's huge but not over-filling. Wonderful mix of avocado, fresh sliced turkey, sprouts, crispy baconand cheese.
MEATS, PREPARED AND READY TO TAKE HOME
The meats look especially appealing, particularly a Muscovy Duck prepared with pancetta. There are steaks, chops, chicken ready to be roasted. The pates are excellent for a sandwich or accompaniment to cocktails or appetizer with dinner. There are the sausages, of course; his specialty. There's no green stuff yet, or any produce, but Jamie says they will come after the second refrigerator is installed. This is only their first week. The hours are 10 to 8 Tues-Sat, shorter hours on Sunday and, for the moment, closed on Sunday. Jamie says eventually it will be a 7-days-a-week market, though.
