ALBRECHT MUTH, IN GEORGETOWN, JUST BEFORE HE WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH KILLING HIS WIFE.
Today I've been hearing from people about my encounters, back in the day, with Albrecht Muth and his wife Viola Drath, an interest fueled by a New York Times story on the odd couple. She was found murdered last August, he was charged, and Muth is now at St. Elizabeth's, undergoing treatment and evaluation to determine whether he can stand trial. I've attended a couple of his court hearings and written about the hearings and Muth and Drath for Washingtonian. It's a sad story of DC social-climbing.
Due to the curiosity, here is the story I wrote back when it happened: Albrecht Muth, Viola Drath, and Murder in Georgetown.
