JACK'S BOATHOUSE SATURDAY MORNING, IT'S LEASE REVOKED
The Georgetowner newspaper broke an important and sad story Friday: the National Park Service has cancelled the lease of beloved Jack's Boathouse on the Potomac waterfront. But ever vigilant Topher Mathews, publisher of The Georgetown Metropolitan, tweeted what fans can do to protest the move: "If you like Jack's Boathouse and don't want to see it evicted, call NPS's Stephen Whitesell at 202-619-7000 and ask him to reconsider." I say do that, and ask your friends to do that, and ask your friends to ask their friends to do that ...
NPS has done good for Georgetown; the Georgetown Waterfront Park is a prime example. But it has also done bad; the demise of the C&O Canal Barge, and now Jack's.
That's it. Nathan's. The sitting area at the 4 Seasons. Furin's. Now Jack's. We're supposed to just sit back and wait for Niketown? With all your fancy connections, don't you know a lawyer with balls?
