THE FLOWERS WERE DESIGNED BY THE FLORIST OF THE NOBEL PRIZE
It was quite a special occasion last night at the Kennedy Center, where 550 guests attended a gala to mark the opening of Nordic Cool, a month-long celebration of, well, all things Nordic. There was a reception, a concert and a dinner -- with some of the men in white tie and tails, wearing their medals -- and a number of people in traditional Nordic outfits.
SWEDISH FLORIST GUNNAR KAJ, POSING WITH ONE OF HIS CREATIONS
The food and flowers were imported, which is unusual for a Kennedy Center dinner. Both were exceptional. It was a cheerful and warm evening, despite having "Cool" in the name. I didn't get home till midnight, which is well past bedtime. So, if that's any measure, the party was a winner. In addition to The Washingtonian story linked to above I'll have more on it Friday morning on WUSA-9.
