On Monday I'll be one of the three guest speakers at an interesting event: The 2013 Woman-Owned Small Bsuiness Competition. I'll speak about my dozen or more years as a small business owner - the ups and downs - and transitioning from that back into a career. The other speakers are Rohit Bhargava, author and a professor of marketing at Georgetown University and CEO and founder of Influential Marketing Group; and Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
In addition to the speakers and the opportunity for networking the event features a competition for the best business plan with a top prize of $5,000. For more information, visit the LaunchNetworkUSA website.
The event runs from 11:30am-1:30pm in McLean, VA, at 8180 Greensboro Drive.
I am grateful for the invitation from Monica Samtani, traffic reporter for WUSA-TV, who is also the founder and president of Launch Network, which says its mission is to "promote the achievements of women in the US through networking and fun social events."
This is a good opportunity for anyone, particulary women, interested in starting a small business or already set up with one....and, as always, to meet new friends.
I'll also have copies of my memoir of small business ownership, "Innocent Spouse," available for purchase.
