My friend Shane Harris, of Foreign Policy magazine, just back from two weeks in Europe, both of us with stories to tell and lots of catching up to do, met for drinks this evening at Graffiato. We had Old Fashioneds. Two rounds. Delicious. Then we walked over to the Washingtonian Magazine "Best Of" party at the National Building Museum, where we ate some fine hot dogs at the Haute Dog booth. They have shops in Purcellville and Alexandria. I'm really glad they are not just down the street from my office or home or I would be sunk. Amazing hot dogs. We tried The Bomb and the Bánh Mi. Nice way to chase a bourbon drink. Alas, I was too busy noshing to take a photo. Trust me. Worth the drive.
Special mention: also at "Best Of," the candy concession at the BMW lounge. Hot cars and sweet candy. Why not? A lot of licorice and blue raspberry, plus marshmallows bigger than golf balls. Loaded up.
